Sun City and Pilansberg Wildlife the best of both worlds
6 Day (ref:4005)

DAY 1 – 3
On arrival at OR Tambo you collect your 1400cc vehicle from our airport depot and depart immediately for the breath taking beauty of the Pilansberg National Park. Pilanesberg Game Reserve is in the Bojanala Region of the North West Province, adjacent to Sun City. Set in the crater of a long extinct volcano, the Park ranks as the 4th largest of South Africa Wildlife Park and covers an area of 55 000 hectare. The beauty of Pilanesberg is reflected in a large central lake, the Mankwe Dam. Over time, wind and water have carved a spectacular landscape with rocky outcrops, open grasslands, wooded valleys and thickets. Pilanesberg National Park accommodates virtually every mammal of southern Africa and is also home to the Big Five.
Surrounding a hippo pool in the wildlife paradise of the Pilanesberg National Park, your lodge offers a unique eco-tourist experience. Each of the luxuriously appointed rooms offers spectacular views of the bush surrounding the resort. The restaurant offers an exotic buffet as well as an extensive a la carte menu. Light meals are served on the terrace and bush braais, held at the boma, regularly light up the African sky. Game drives are offered in the mornings and evenings while the day is spent watching the watering hole and relaxing on the deck. Board basis is Dinner, Bed and Breakfast and a game drive.

DAY 3 – 5
After breakfast you head for the spectacular Sun City resort complex a mere 20 minute drive from the park. Sun City, unique in the context of world resorts, with a combination of features unmatched anywhere, draws thousands of visitors each year to its four top-quality hotels, a Vacation Club plus magnificent sporting and recreational facilities including 2 world class golf courses, and the magical Lost City and water-park, The Valley of Waves.

Only 187 km from Johannesburg, the resort, situated in the bushveld of South Africa's North West province, is surrounded by the imposing mountains of the Pilanesberg. The Sun City Hotel is the hedonistic heart of the Sun City Resort. The ambience of the Hotel is one of glamour and sophistication. From the moment you enter the foyer your senses are assaulted by the bold design aspects and dramatic setting. The central area has been transformed into a jungle of lush foliage, cascading water and life-like boulders, encircling fast moving slot machines. The hotel's view comprises a magnificent landscape of subtropical gardens and a sparkling swimming pool. It has a total of 340 rooms, which either face the Gary Player Golf Course or pool area, with gardens stretching down to Sun City's exciting Waterworld. This hotel which overlooks the internationally acclaimed Gary Player Golf Course is abundant in restaurants to fit all culinary tastes. If your taste tends towards the more piquant, then the Orchid Restaurant will sate even the most jaded taste buds. Traditional Asian cuisine ranging from Jasmine smoked duck served in pancakes with a sweet bean sauce to Malaysian spiced Chicken breasts. The Thai, Ka Ti ice cream is a taste sensation as is the layered Panda Lapis Cake. For traditional South African cuisine, the Calabash Restaurant will welcome you in true African style. The groaning buffet offers boboetjie, curries, carvery and steamed vegetables, followed by sinful trifles and tipsy tarts. The Calabash is where sensational tastes from the North and South meet. Board basis is Bed and Breakfast.

DAY 5 – 6
Today you head for Johannesburg. Here you will find an energy and vibrancy unlike anywhere else in the country that you have visited. Once a dusty mining town, Johannesburg is now the country’s largest city and the commercial, financial and transport hub of the subcontinent. It’s a big, brash, in your face city – a kaleidoscope of African sights, smells, colours, cultures and habitats – with plenty to see and do around the city and further a field. Gleaming skyscrapers contrast with Indian bazaars and African 'muti' (medicine) shops, where traditional healers dispense advice and traditional medicine. The busy streets ring out with the call of fruit sellers and street vendors. An exciting blend of ethnic and Western art and cultural activities is reflected in theatres and open-air arenas, throughout the city. Make yourself at home in one of Johannesburg's most exclusive suburbs, and enjoy the warm welcome and excellent service of your hotel. Whether you've come to the city to work or play, you can spend time relaxing in the beautiful landscaped gardens with outdoor pool, or taking a short stroll to the city's most up market shopping complexes, all with an exciting range of designer boutiques, restaurants, banks and entertainment facilities. For an exciting day out join a guided tour to the Apartheid Museum, Soweto or the mines of Gold Reef City. Board basis is Bed and Breakfast.
